EFOSSNet (Ethiopian Free & Open Source Software Network) is or was a non-governmental organisation and "network that works to promote the use of FOSS in Ethiopia. Since its establishment in April 2005, it has performed a lot of awareness trainings and workshops to the public and to 5 major universities in the country." "To create an environment that FOSS is utilised to enable better use of ICT? for the sustainable development of the country. To accomplish its mission, EFOSSNet is committed to the following key results:

  • FOSS Research and Development: To understand the optimal utilisation of FOSS through conducting appropriate research and ensuring continuous improvement by establishing sub-networks of youth, developers and user and policy makers.
  • FOSS IEC (Information, Education and Communication): To introduce FOSS to ICT users and policy makers in the country through training and awareness creation programmes in partnership with private sector, government, non-government organisations and educational institutions at all levels.
