Global Learning Portal

The Global Learning Portal is an ICT4E project running from 2002-07. It is a "public-private partnership between AED, Sun Microsystems, and USAID" which "expands the educational resources available to primary and secondary school teachers in developing countries." (AED webpage for the project)


The project has created websites for collection and dissemination of in each of the 6 countries it works in This work has apparently involved some translation.

It is active in 6 countries, including 3 in Africa:

In addition to the abovementioned organisations, the following are also involved in work on Global Learning Portal: Education International (EI); International Reading Association (IRA); Oracle Education Foundation; UNESCO; and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
