SADC

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an interAfrican regional development organisation grouping 14 countries: Angola, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its headquarters are in Gaborone, Botswana.

SADC is not currently implicated in any localisation work [8/2007; need verification and updates]

Background

SADC was originally formed by nine majority-ruled States in Southern Africa in 1980 as the Southern African Development Coordination Conference (SADCC). It became SADC in 1992.
