Atakar (Atakat),Gworok (Gwolok, Kagoro), Fantsuam (Kafanchan), Kachichere (Aticherak), Sholio (Moroa) and Tyap (Kataf, Katab). (Zitt)
2. Where Spoken / Localisation géographique
Tyap is spoken by the Atyap people of Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. Specifically, it is spoken in Zangon Kataf LGA, Kaduna State. (Zitt)
Locally, it is "an important district language." (Ethnologue)
3. Number of Speakers / Nombre de locuteurs
As with all Nigerian languages, a lack of current ethnic and linguistic data means only estimates are available. Roger Blench provides the figure of 130,000 for the Tyap language in 1990.
Using a growth rate of 3% for Kaduna State (Nigerian Government), then native Tyap speakers are now over 200,000 in number.
