What the project aims to do:
An online tool for publishing dictionaries and other forms of content through public participation and verification.
Kasahorow is an existing online dictionary co-developed by Paa Kwesi Imbeah which covers currently three languages, namely: Ewe, Akan, Hausa
Practically any African language
Arabic (and other RTL languages)
Who will benefit:
- Technology companies
- Software developers working on L10n
By having an easy tool to use as a reference and by also contributing to it.
Yes. Existing work can be built upon
Not having enough users and contributors to make it a reliable and mature system
- Existing work will be re-used
- Making it open source will utilize the open source dynamics of evolution
- Usability is going to be well thought-out to facilitate contributions
One year for phase 1 which should focus on developing the tool further and doing two pilot languages
Relying on volunteers at this early stage will mean slow developments. Thus, resources have to be hired to work on this. These resources include but are not limited to:
- Software developers
Organizations to be involved are still to be determined.
