Web-lingo was started in 1997. It is owned by myself and my sister Sonette Hill. When we started we did mainly document translations. In 'those days' translators who had documents that involved diacritics typed and printed out text and added diacritics by using fine line pens and faxing documents to us! Now with the help of wonderful people like Don Osborn, Dwayne Bailey and the Pan African L10N workshops we have become one of the major players in the South African localisation process. We are in the process of localising mobile phones and major international software products. We have overcome language and technology barriers by networking with other language and technical professionals and by providing translators with hardware and by training them how to use the software. We do not concentrate on the problems involved in localising African Languages but rather in creating solutions. We have passion and we believe in what we do.
