Coptic script - Ecriture copte
"Copt" derived from the Greek word for "Egyptian" is typically applied to anything related to the Coptic Christians of Egypt. Coptic script is considered a variant on Greek where letters are added for sounds in the Coptic language that were not found in Greek, and some letters likewise dropped when not found in Coptic. Some character shapes will also be different from modern Greek.
The Coptic script inventory grew with Unicode 4.1 (March 31, 2005) and should now be complete for all requirements of rendering Coptic.
