Gogo is a Bantu language (Guthrie G11) (Webbook?)
Ethnologue? lists the classification as: Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Narrow Bantu, Central, G, Gogo (G.10)

It is spoken in central Tanzania around Dodoma. (Webbook)

No complete dialect survey is known to us. Derek Nurse writes that "Gogo is felt to have three dialects: ci-nyambwa, spoken west of Dodoma; ci-nyaugogo, spoken around Dodoma; ci-tumba, spoken east of Dodoma." (Webbook)
Nyambwa (West Gogo), Nyaugogo (Central Gogo), Tumba (East Gogo). Lexical similarity 50% with Hehe and Sangu, 48% with Kimbu, 45% with Nilamba. (Ethnologue)

Gogo is a local language. (Webbook)
Ethnologue has the following notes concerning language use: Vigorous. Used in meetings by the Anglican church.
