Maghreb

This term Maghreb is from the Arabic which strictly speaking is Morocco. The root of the term is the same as that for "west." In common usage in the west Maghreb refers to Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. Among the history that these countries share is having been colonized by in part or as a whole by France. Among other things this makes a difference for some loanwords in the local Arabic and the fact that many localizers work in the French language.

A larger use of the term Maghreb, according to Wikipedia, is "Grand Maghreb" which also includes Libya and Mauritania.

Dominant languages: Arabic and several dialects of Berber.

This region also has multiple scripts, including the Arabic script, the Latin script, and older and modernized versions of Tifinagh, though the latter are less used.
