English is indicated in the 2011 constitution as "the official working language" and "the language of instruction at all levels of education."

The 2011 constitution indicates that "All indigenous languages of South Sudan are national languages and shall be respected, developed and promoted."

Dinka, Nuer, Zande. Arabic is also spoken by a significant number of people, mainly as an L2? and LWC. There may also be some Fula and Hausa speakers.
